The Invisible Undershirt

There are several factors that contribute to our Invisible Undershirts being, well, invisible.

The primary factor is actually that it is beige. White contrasts with the human skin quite a bit, so collars and sleeves of white shirts are visible through most light-colored dress shirts.

Our beige color diminishes the contrast between your skin and your dress shirt, so your undershirt can’t be seen.

Over the years, we’ve tested many color options and our beige came out on top in terms of invisibility. It adapts and blends with the widest range of skin tones and does an amazing job hiding our undershirts.

We do have plans to expand our line into additional color options. Some of our customers indicated gray as a preference, but we’re going to continue collecting feedback before making any final decisions.

We didn’t choose our blend lightly, but we did choose it for its lightness. After extensive testing, we landed on a special fabric blend of 95% TENCEL™ and 5% Spandex.

Cotton is a lot cheaper than the fabrics we ultimately went with, but it also weighs much heavier on your body. TENCEL provides stretch so that our shirts adapt to your body’s unique contours.

In addition to this, our fabric has moisture-wicking technology that keeps you dry and prevents odor-causing bacteria. It’s also 2 times softer than cotton and much more breathable, so it feels great against your skin no matter what you’re doing.

We know our undershirts probably cost more than you’re used to paying. The main difference is the premium fabric we use to make ours.

Ultimately, you’re getting an exceptionally better product made from higher quality materials. Our undershirts look and feel better than traditional undershirts – and you won’t have to replace them for years.

A simpler way to say this is: You get what you pay for.

UnderFit shirts are made from a TENCEL™ / Lycra (Spandex) fabric blend with 4-way stretch. That means your shirt moves and adjusts with you throughout the day. This helps your undershirt keep its shape and ensures you don’t get that annoying fabric “pouch” at your midsection that occurs whenever you move around or adjust a conventional undershirt.

Moisture absorbing fabrics are beneficial for avoiding developing sweat marks or deodorant stains on outer layers. A viscose or cotton undershirt worn under a shirt will absorb and trap sweat before it reaches the shirt (or outer layer). Sweat is held by the undershirt inside the fabric’s micropores: you don’t feel wet on your skin, and your shirt won’t show any sweat marks.

Wicking material does not absorb moisture so the fabric will dry faster in heavy sweating conditions. This makes it a perfect single layer for sporting activities which require sweat to be moved away quickly: the sweat can evaporate directly into the air to prevent your clothes from becoming drenched.

Like modal, viscose and bamboo fibers are made from broken down cellulose pulp. However, the process that gives viscose and bamboo their soft, silky texture often involves breaking down those fibers with chemicals such as sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide. Ultimately, the end products barely contain any trace of their organic fibers.

When it comes to cotton, even the most organic fabrics are made by processes requiring wide scale deforestation to create agricultural land. Plus, it takes 15 times more water to produce a cotton undershirt compared to modal.

TENCEL™ fibers, used in all of our products, are produced by Lenzing – a global leader in environmentally responsible production processes. More than 99% of Lenzing’s fibers are sourced from sustainably grown forests.

Our products are manufactured in Vietnam, with a factory partner that we’ve been working with for five years.

Our undershirts are made with a lightly stretching material that offers a close and light body-hugging fit. They’re not compression shirts, but do have a close-to-the-body feel.

So you won’t be restricted in your movements, but you’ll have a shirt that fits the contours of your body and hides cleanly beneath whatever you’re wearing on top.

They have a tapered construction to fit the broad shoulders of men and slim as they flow down the body so you don’t get the bagginess or “undershirt gut” you so often see with cheap cotton undershirts.

Our undershirts are not compression shirts, so they won’t tuck your stomach in tighter. But they will actually fit you to your natural shape without adding any extra baggy material.

No, the fabric has 5% elastane (spandex) to make it comfortably stretch to your unique shape without feeling tight.
